Dixon Grobet metalsmith silversmith #13 knob end T Stake SOLD

The Dixon #13 is a versatile stake. The dual knob ends allow forming many radius shapes – bracelets, cups,  etc and each horn has different inside radii for forming curves on flat stock. You can use every surface of the knob ends to make dozens of shapes and curves. The shape of the horns also allows you to place the stake inside a vessel for forming. I used this stake the most, it is used and shows signs of use. See images for dings. I have cleaned and dressed this for my use using yellow tripoli finished to a dull polish.  You are free to clean, dress and polish for your style. Approx. 12 inches tip to tip, 1 1/8 and 7/8 inch knobs. This is sold “as is”. The #13 can be installed in a nice tree stump if you do not have a large vise or anvil. You may notice the price is less of a discount compared to my other sales. This simply reflects the fact I will continue to use this stake if I don’t sell 🙂

Dixon Grobet metalsmith silversmith #12 T Stake anvil SOLD

The Dixon #12 is the most versatile stake because it is a mini anvil with two tapering horns – the center portion is flat, one horn with a flat top and one horn nearly round tapering from about 1″ down to 3/8″ which works great for rings, earrings and bracelets. The #12 is barn fresh. It is used and shows signs of use. I have not cleaned nor have I dressed it since unpacking and it is not finished to a polish. This unpolished style is preferred by some smiths as the stake surface does not allow the work piece to move when struck while rough forming. You are free to clean, dress and polish for your style. This is sold “as is”. The #12 can be installed in a nice tree stump if you do not have a large vise or anvil or it can be fitted in the #88 stakeholder I have for sale on another post.

These are the so-called cowtongue T stakes. #8 is swept up at the tongue end and has a flat anvil surface with angled sides. The #9 has a curved top with radius sides and a small edge at the end – slight round inverted rocker (retail $314). The #8 is hard to find and is great because of the flat surface in addition to the tongue end – more shapes, angles and use with sheet. The #8 is barn fresh. I have not cleaned nor have I dressed it since unpacking and it is not finished to a polish. Chasing repousse silversmith tools 20 pieces with oak base set 2 Barn Fresh undressed SOLD

For sale – Set of tools/punches used for repousee or chasing work on metal

This set is comparable to other 20 piece sets offered by many jewelry supply outlets (RG $160, C $159, OF $187.95, etc). I purchased this marked set from US Army-Ft. Sill, OK when they closed the art center on base in the mid 90’s.  This set was pulled from my warehouse after being stored for more than 10 years and is in “Barn Fresh” condition. The set is NOT cleaned and polished and has a haze of surface oxidation. I would bet you a dollar these have never been hit with a hammer. The ends have the band saw kerf marks from the time they were cut from stock. See for yourself (typical image above).
